Cooperstown Bass Guides is a "father and son" business. Allan and Peter Green live in Cooperstown and have been fishing Otsego Lake for twelve years. They are members of the Susquehanna Bass Association and fish tournaments on Otsego Lake and other area lakes regularly (and usually do quite well).
Allan is a New York State Licensed Guide, and holds a Joint Pilot & Engineer License to operate a Public Vessel. He has been an avid angler for more than 40 years. In addition to guiding fishing trips, he is a research scientist, presently teaching biochemistry at SUNY Oneonta and is involved in various projects related to prevention of type 2 diabetes.
Peter is a full time college student, and helps with "behind the scenes" aspects of the business - maintaining tackle, washing and preparing the boat, etc. He's working on his guide license, and will eventually guide fishing trips during the summer. He has been fishing since he was three years old!
Boat and fishing tackle
Cooperstown Bass Guides fish from a Triton TR19 dual console bass boat. The boat has a 200 hp motor, two depth finders, a 24 volt trolling motor, a cooler, comfortable seating and large, aerated live wells. The boat is inspected as a "Public Vessel" by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
