empire toyota anglers of the year, 2017

Congratulations to Peter and Allan Green, Susquehanna Bass Association Anglers of the Year (sponsored by Empire Toyota), with a total weight of 94.02 lb (after dropping their two lowest weights). Peter and Allan also caught the biggest bag of the year (18.44 lb) and Peter caught the biggest smallmouth of the year (4.01 lb), both on Oneida Lake

The next meeting will be held Sunday, April 22, 6 pm at the American Legion in Oneonta.

The final tournament of the year, the Art and Nate VanSteenburg Memorial Classic, was held October 21-22 on Otsego Lake. Those of us who have fished the lake for a long time are wondering what has happened to the big smallmouths that we used to catch at this time of year. Nevertheless, the weather was good, and lots of fish were brought in with ten of the seventeen boats having a limit both days, including good numbers of largemouths for October. Don and Rosie Hoag won with ten fishing weighing 23.95 lb. See Results and Standings for complete results.

The race for "Angler of the Year" was the closest in recent years, and was decided by the final Canadarago tournament and by the rule that each team drops their lowest two weights. When it all shook out, Peter and Allan Green won, beating the second place team of Matt and Rich Ford by less than three pounds!

Susquehanna Bass Association

The Susquehanna Bass Association is a bass club based in Oneonta, NY. We have approximately 70 members from across the central New York region. The club was formed in 1987, and fishes regular bass tournaments every week or two from June through the end of October. We fish in two-person teams, usually with a five-fish limit.
